Las Vegas / With a stellar tribute full of love and passion by his musical colleagues, Alejandro Sanz received today the Person of the Year award at a ceremony within the framework of the Latin Grammy in which the Spanish star vindicated the value of dreams and rebellion.

Alejandro Sanz said that “we are what we dream” and recalled that when he was a child he fantasized about dedicating one day to music.

The ceremony took place at the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas and it was organized by the Latin Recording Academy with the sole purpose of crowning Sanz as an emblem of Hispanic music.

The Spaniard also assured that it is an extraordinary prize for him because it is given him by his fellow professionals and passion colleagues.

Stars like Natalia Lafourcade, Luis Fonsi, David Bisbal, Juanes or Camila Cabello took the stage to interpret Sanz’s classics as Amiga mía, Cuando nadie me ve or No es lo mismo.

On the other hand, the Spanish duo Los del Río conquered with their art and charm the activities of the Latin Grammy when receiving the Award of Musical Excellence.

The authors of Macarena, a pioneering success in bringing Latin music to all corners of the planet, highlighted the humility and simplicity of having grown up in a hard-working and honest family.

Lucecita Benítez, João Bosco, Ilan Chester, Víctor Heredia, Guadalupe Pineda and Cuco Valoy were also awarded with Los del Río.

All these previous events are part of the preparations for the 18th edition in the Latin Grammys, which takes place on Thursday in Las Vegas and in which the Puerto Rican Residente, with nine nominations, is the main favourite.
