Washington /The phenomenon of “Black Panther”, the Marvel film with a cast almost entirely made up of black actors, surpassed the one billion dollar mark raised worldwide.
According to the data from the specialized website Box Office Mojo, Black Panther reached 531 million dollars in film’s ticket sales in the USA and another 500 million abroad, driven by its recent release in China.
It was ranked as the ninth highest grossing film in history in the North American market.
In the film, directed by Ryan Coogler and praised for its diversity in front of and behind the camera, T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), after the death of his father, the king of the fictional Wakanda, returns to his home, an African nation isolated from the world but with tremendous technological potential.
