SNOW COMES BACK THIS WEEKEND

Madrid / After the intense snowfall in recent days in many provinces, the arrival of a new front to the peninsula from tomorrow will again leave snowfall in areas of Castilla y León, Galicia and central peninsular, although weaker than last weekend.

In general, snowfalls will be weak with accumulations between 3 and 10 centimetres, Ruben del Campo, spokesman of the State Agency of Meteorology (Aemet), has told EFE.

It is a winter situation without any exceptional weather phenomenon.

The front will reach the coasts of Galicia throughout this night to ‘sweep’ the peninsula from west to east and leave, during its journey, rain or snow in many areas of the peninsula that, on Sunday, it will also affect the Balearic and Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla.

The snow will precipitate with greater intensity in the mountains of the Central System, Cantabrian Mountains, northern plateau and Iberian System in a snow level between 700 / 1,000 metres in the northern half of the peninsula and about 1,000 / 1,200 meters in the mountains of the southeast.

Regarding temperatures, it will descend nocturnal temperatures today in much of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands with frosts in the interior of the peninsula, more intense in the northern plateau and mountain areas, while it is expected to rise in the Cantabrian and inland southeast of the peninsula in the day.
