Uses of the determiner “cada”

 

“Cada” is a determiner that doesn’t change the form.

 

What it is used for? → We use it to mention individually a person, an object or element that is part of a whole.

“Cada minuto cuenta”. → We refer to all minutes (individually) that are part of an hour, for example. Also, this sentence expresses it’s important not to loose time.

“Cada niño recibió un caramelo”. → We emphasize that each children (individually) gets a candy.

How to use it

It’s always before countable nouns in singular.

 “Cada botella de vino”.

 “Cada ordenador”.

 You can find it before number.

 

“Cada cinco días va al gimnasio”. → It expresses time.

 “Cada cuatro años hay elecciones generales”. → It expresses time.

Don’t forget that…!

 Never before of ordinal or multiple number.

 It can be before indefinite pronoun.

“Cada uno hace lo que quiere” → It emphasizes a person of a whole.
