14 sentences to differentiate between the preposition ‘tras’ and the adverb ‘atrás’

Everything was going well until you finished the sentence with ‘un pasito adelante’ and ‘otro tras’. In reality, you wanted to say ‘un pasito adelante y otro atrás’. ‘Atrás’ is an adverb of place that we use with movement verbs and means ‘detrás de’ (behind). It also means going back or past time. With this adverb we never use the preposition to because it already carries it. We never say “vamos a atrás” but say “vamos atrás”. And ‘tras’ is a preposition which means ‘después de’ (after) and ‘a continuación de’ (below) or also ‘detrás de’ (behind) and from there, it’s probably came your confusion… The best way to see the difference between one and another is to practice with sentences because the context will help you.
