15 groups and three phases in the Spanish vaccination plan against Sars-CoV-2

Madrid / The Government of Spain, chaired by Pedro Sánchez, has programmed a vaccination plan against Sars-CoV-2 in three phases, so that it reaches the entire population, during the first three quarters of next year. The Government has divided the Spanish population into 15 groups based on risk, level of exposure, socioeconomic impact, and the possibility of transmission.

The Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, has advanced that, in the first phase that runs from January to March, the Government plans to give priority to vaccinating two and a half million people, including residents and staff in nursing homes for the elderly and with disabilities, health personnel, social health workers, and large non-institutionalized dependents.

The other groups are made up of: people with risky conditions; those who live or work in closed communities or environments; vulnerable groups due to their economic situation; essential workers; the teaching community; the child population; the young population over 16 years of age; the adult population; those who are in areas susceptible to recidivism or in situations of possible outbreaks; pregnant and lactating mothers; and seropositive for SARS-CoV-2.

The Government has not yet defined the order in which these groups will be incorporated into phases two and three (from March to June and in the summer months) of vaccination, depending on the availability of doses.

Spain, according to health authorities, has committed 140 million doses, to reach 80 million immunizations.

The rapid development of vaccines gives rise to some hope for the Spanish population, after the harshness of a second wave that is subsiding but does not dispel the fear of a regrowth and a third wave, with the upcoming Christmas holidays.

Health has notified on Friday, November 27, 10,853 infections (1,628,208) and 294 deaths (44,668), with a hospital pressure for the covid of 11.95% and 28.44% in ucis.

The average accumulated incidence per 100,000 inhabitants continues in clear decline (307), with Castilla y León as the only community above 500 (501) and with practically the entire territory still at high risk levels, very far from the 25 that are targeted President Pedro Sánchez.
