306 copies of "The diario de Anne Frank" mysteriously destroyed in 38 libraries of Tokyo

The Embassy of Israel and the Jewish community of Japan today donated new copies of "The diario de Ana Frank" for 38 libraries of Tokyo, where 306 copies of this book were mysteriously destroyed in the last days"

“The diary of Anne Frank” was written by a girl who lived hidden with her family in Amsterdam during the nazi occupation, and finally died in the concentration camp of Bergen-Belsen, in 1945. It has been translated into 55 languages and brought to the big screen as one of the most moving accounts of the Holocaust.

The Damaged volumes had ripped out leaves or habían sido had been cut with a cutter, and belonged to 38 public libraries of 8 districts in Tokyo, most of them located in the central area of the Japanese capital.

Police believe that you it´s vandalism

In the municipality of Tokyo´s Suginami district, which houses several libraries where volumes were damaged, today was held a ceremony to formalize the donation, involving Israeli diplomats and representatives of local authorities.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Police has created a special group to investigate the facts as a crime of vandalism, the suspect that these damages were caused by the same person.

In total, 38 libraries of eight districts reported last week that this month found with pages torn or cut of 306 copies of the known of diario Jewish girl and other works related to the Holocaust and his biography.
