Madrid / The National Police has arrested 47 people in several Spanish provinces who were doing in language tests and Spanish cultural knowledge required of non-Spanish-speaking foreigners who were charged between 1,000 and 2,000 euros.
As reported by the General Directorate of the National Police, the detainees formed a network with a presence throughout Spain dedicated to supplanting foreigners in the language tests (DELE A2) and general culture required to obtain Spanish nationality.
For this, they used false documents or even their own DNI, as detected by the police in an operation that began with fourteen detainees in Valencia.
The recipients of the certificates were legal resident foreigners in Spain who were not Spanish speakers and who did not have the knowledge required to obtain Spanish nationality, so they were willing to pay between 1,000 and 2,000 euros for them.
The price to pay depended on whether the aspirants wanted to obtain the language test or also the cultural knowledge, as well as their own characteristics, since according to their nationality and the difficulty attributed to learning the language, they had to pay a higher or lower price.
The investigation began in the venues where these exams were held in Valencia where, after the study and verification of the identification documents of the applicants, fourteen people were arrested for crimes of falsification of documents and identity theft.
Before the suspicion that this activity could be taking place throughout Spain, a national device was put into operation that culminated in the arrest of two other people in Valencia; 17 in Barcelona; six in Mallorca; two in Jaca (Huesca), Ávila and Guadalajara; and one in Soria and Cuenca, which totals 47 arrested for the same crimes.
