The voice of Antonio Garamendi, CEOE president, who on Thursday said the Catalan problem “affects all of Spain”, since that region accounts for 20% of Spanish GDP and is therefore “a fundamental part” of the economy , and in his opinion “the damage they are doing to themselves is incomprehensible”.
“It is a sadness, 5,000 companies have left there and the investments that have taken place in the first quarter of this year are many hundreds of millions” of euros less than the previous year, Garamendi has asserted in Valencia during his speech at Encuentros SER, where he added: “that’s no good for none”.
The new president of the employers’ association has stressed that Catalonia sells more to Aragon than to France (of the order of 11,000 million euros); it sells to the Comunitat Valenciana a similar figure that it sells to Germany (6,000 million) and practically the same to Cantabria as to the United States, so its “instability” affects “everyone”.

“It is incomprehensible is the harm they are doing to themselves. That is to say, I believe that it is a sad subject. 5,000 companies have left there. Investments that have been in the first quarter of this year are many hundreds of millions less than these were the previous year. And that, and that’s no good, but I honestly say it. But it’s not good for anyone.”
