AT LEAST 1 KILLED AND 13 WOUNDED IN A SHOOTING AT A RESTAURANT IN TORONTO

Toronto, Canada / At least one person was killed and 13 others were injured in a shooting at a restaurant in Toronto, police said on Monday.

The incident took place on Sunday night in the Danforth area of Canada’s largest city, and the assailant has been killed, Toronto Police said.

“14 victims were shot with a handgun. 1 female adult has died,” Toronto Police said on Twitter, citing Police Chief Mark Saunders, who was present at the scene.

The police added that a young girl was in a critical condition and the homicide unit was investigating the incident.

Witnesses reported hearing dozens of gunshots in the area on Sunday night after which a large number of security and medical personnel arrived in the area.

The Danforth, also known as Greektown, is a popular area in Toronto’s eastern Riverdale neighborhood, known for restaurants and its annual “Taste of the Danforth” food festival held in mid-August. (23 July 2018, EFE/Practica Español)
