A total of 53 heads of State or Government have confirmed their attendance at the funeral of State
of former President Nelson Mandela, said South African Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maite Nkoana Mashaban today
Most of the leaders attend official religious service in memory of Mandela which will take place in Soweto´s FNB Stadium, formerly known as Soccer City, Johannesburg on Tuesday.
The leaders who have confirmed their attendance include the Presidents of USA, Barack Obama; Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, and Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto, as well as Prince Felipe de Borbón, heir to the Crown of Spain, and the President of the Spanish Government, Mariano Rajoy
International organizations such as the UN, the European Union (EU) and the African Union (AU) have also reported the presence of its highest representatives at the funeral
After the religious office on Tuesday, the coffin of Mandela will parade through the streets of Pretoria from 11 to 13 December, so that Africans can do him the last tribute.
The State funeral will be held next Sunday in the small village of Qunu in the southeast of the country, where Mandela grew up and wanted to be entombed.
Nelson Mandela died at age 95 late last Thursday at his home in Johannesburg.
