AUDREY HEPBURN’S SCRIPT IN ‘BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S’ SOLD FOR 721.000 EUROS

London / The script that Audrey Hepburn (1929-1993) used in the filming of the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961) has been auctioned for 632,750 pounds (721,335 Euros) in London, together with dozens of objects of the actress, born in Brussels, put on sale by their relatives.

The script has 140 pages and it includes some scenes that were never taken to the film, as well as annotations by hand drawn with the characteristic turquoise ink used by Audrey Hepburn.

The script of another classic in the cinema War and Peace, a copy of 309 pages in which also there are handwritten note, was sold by 56,250 pounds (64,125 Euros) in the same auction.

In total, the family of Hepburn, one of the muses of the golden age of Hollywood, has put on sale for the first time a collection composed of more than 500 pieces.

The most valuable objects were auctioned at the auction house’s London headquarters, while other items can be purchased online until October 3.

Buyers who took part in the auction in the British capital showed special interest in some of the Hepburn portraits on sale, whose final price far exceeded the experts’ estimates.

A set of 211 photographs taken in 1953, during the filming of Roman Holiday, sold for 87,500 pounds (99,750 Euros), when its estimated maximum price was 6,000 pounds (6,840 Euros).

Another collection, made up of 33 images taken by Pierluigi Praturlon during the filming of War and Peace reached 27,500 pounds (31,350 Euros), while experts had valued it at between 3,000 and 5,000 pounds (from 3,420 to 5,700 Euros).

It also broke expectations of some of the actress’s more intimate objects, such as a gold-coloured, sapphire-decorated lipstick bag that sold for 56,250 pounds (64,125 Euros). (September 28, 2017, EFE/Practica Español)
