Boris Johnson adopts an Andalusian dog buzzard

London / A fifteen-week-old dog, from an animal shelter in Wales, moved to Downing Street on Monday to share a residence with British Prime Minister, conservative Boris Johnson, and his partner Carrie Symonds.

After being abandoned by a dog breeder farm, the puppy, of the breed known as Andalusian dog buzzard and whose name is not yet known, has been adopted by Johnson and his partner, who reside in the apartment above the office of the chancellor of the Exchequer, at number 11 Downing Street.

Support for Lucy Law

Four representatives of the association “Friends of Animals Wales” arrived on Monday at the official office of the prime minister to deliver the puppy, who was travelling in a red bag which showed its scared face.

The decision to adopt the animal came by consensus with the workers of Johnson’s residence, after which the couple contacted the animal shelter and chose the specimen.

The chief executive and his partner wanted to show their support for the so-called “Lucy Law“, which is planned to be implemented from next year in England and aims to end dog breeding farms.

In a statement, the animal shelter thanked the couple, whom he described as “great dog lovers,” who opened “their hearts and their home to a survivor of a puppy farm.”

The dog will live a few meters from Larry, the famous cat that has occupied the adjoining house for years, number 10 of the best-known street in London. (September 2, 2019, EFE/Practica Español)
