Bruno Rodríguez (Spain and Cuba)

The voice of Bruno Rodríguez talking about the wonderful relationship between Spain and Cuba during the Ibero-American Summit in 2012.

Spain and Cuba have been having a very special relationship for centuries, with deeply cultural and human ties that “go beyond any political situation,” said Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, in an interview with EFE during the 2012 Ibero-American Summit in Cádiz. “We have invited the Spanish Executive to continue keeping a” friendly and respectful “relationship that benefits both countries” and I feel that this will be possible with this government, “said Rodríguez, who represents his country at the Summit.

The Cuban foreign minister stressed that there is a historical and deeply cultural relationship between the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America, outside any political situation and “it is the will of all to advance in this relationship with Spain in an enriching way”.

“There has been a very especial relationship between Spain and Cuba for centuries. It is historical, there are very strong bonds between Spanish and Cuban people, which exceed any political situation, which are deeply cultural, which are deeply human. We have invited the Spanish government to keep developing this kind, friendly relationship, so that it benefits both countries. And I feel that there is, for sure, an oppotunity to keep doing it with this government”
