Beijing / China’s leading Internet search engine, Baidu, today emphasized the success of its first digital museum dedicated to architect Antoni Gaudí and announced new partnerships to offer Chinese users virtual tours to Prado Museum, the Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James) or the route of Don Quixote in Spain.

The technological giant celebrated in an act at the Spanish Embassy in Beijing its first major international commitment dedicated to the works by Gaudí, which since its launch at the end of last year has aroused great interest among users with more than three and a half million visits.

Through an application developed by Baidu, Baidu’s online encyclopedia, users can virtually explore the masterpieces and designs of the Catalan architect, as well as photos and works of his research along with detailed descriptions.

All this with 360-degree panoramas and photographs with a resolution of 20,000 million pixels, and even with an option in which users, through facial recognition, can discover which figure of the story they resemble.

The virtual tour is also possible with 3D glasses, with which the user can know in great detail the Sagrada Familia (Holy Family)  in Barcelona or the Episcopal Palace of Astorga, one of Gaudí’s few works outside of Catalonia.

Now, the most used search engine in China wants to go a step further with several agreements for the creation of other virtual routes through the Prado Museum, the Camino de Santiago or the royal palaces and European castles, including the Royal Palace of Madrid.

It is also expected that very soon Chinese users can immerse themselves in Spanish literature with the visit of the places that Don Quixote travels throughout the work by Miguel de Cervantes. (February 6, 2018, EFE/Practica Español)
