COMMUNIST CUBAN YOUNG PEOPLE, LOYAL TO 57 YEARS OF THE SOCIALISM

Cuba commemorated the 57th anniversary of the socialist proclamation of the Revolution with an event in Havana, where the communist young people expressed their commitment to continue with that political system, on the eve of the session in which the presidency of the country will take place.

“This will never be a generation of rupture, but of continuity and defense of our ideals, that’s why the Cuban Revolution is one,” proclaimed Mailin Alberty, the first secretary of the Union of Young Communists (UJC) of Havana.

Representatives from the Cuban government, the Communist Party (PCC, only party), the UJC and various pro-government organizations met at the confluence between 23rd and 12th streets, in the Havana neighborhood of Vedado, the same place where Fidel Castro proclaimed the socialist character of the Revolution 57 years ago which triumphed in 1959 in Cuba.

In that act, a tribute was paid to Fidel Castro (1929-2016) as leader of the Revolution and of the victory of Playa Girón (Bay of Pigs) that Cuba exhibits as “the first defeat of imperialism in Latin America”.

“Just a few days before the constitution of the IX Legislature of the National Assembly of People’s Power (…) Cuban youth ratifies its commitment to the Party, with Fidel, with Raúl and with Fidel’s legacy of never letting our martyrs down and be faithful followers of their ideas, “said Alberty.

Cuba will open its IX Legislature on Wednesday 18 with the constitution of the new People’s Power Assembly, in a session that will foreseeably last two days and in which Raúl Castro will leave the Presidency of the country. (April 17, 2017, EFE/Practica Español)
