Madrid / The Community of Madrid has announced this Friday that from next Monday the curfew will be brought forward one hour from 24.00 to 23.00, obliges all establishments to close at ten at night and advises that at homes only there are people living together.
The Deputy Minister of Public Health, Antonio Zapatero, explained at a press conference that the advance of closing time from 11:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. affects not only the hotel industry but all other establishments, among which he has cited theaters and cinemas.
The legal services of the Ministry of Health are studying whether it is feasible to make the recommendation not to meet people who do not live together at home into mandatory.
In this sense, the general director of Public Health has pointed out that “very important outbreaks have been detected in nuclei of three cohabitants”, and that currently the majority profile of infected is that of people between 15 and 29 years old.
At the moment, the accumulated incidence in the region is 618 cases per 100,000 inhabitants compared to the 390.7 registered the previous week, but – Zapatero has emphasized – at the end of September this rate stood at 813 per 100,000.
With regard to the possibility of agreeing to a total confinement, the deputy counselor stressed that in medicine “we deal with scientific evidence and it has not been proven that total confinement is the best way to control the pandemic.”
However, he has clarified, “if Madrid has to change depending on the epidemiological situation we will have no problem in analyzing all the available measures” to be able to stop the transmission of the virus.
The Community of Madrid has also decided to extend mobility restrictions to another six basic health zones (ZBS) and five localities, which added to those already in force -41 zones and 14 localities-make a total of 47 basic zones and 19 municipalities.
More than 1,367,000 people from Madrid live in these areas, 20% of the population, and 25% of the cases of coronavirus infections in the region are concentrated in these areas. (January 15, 2021, EFE / PracticaEspañol)
