Madrid / The German writer David Safier (Bremen, 1966, author of the international success Bad Karma) considers that in all his works, humorous or not, always tells the same story, which is about how people get to live together.
David Safier presented today in Madrid his new book Y colorín colarado… Tú, a contemporary tale about love, and declared that “love and family can be a solution to an emotional misery.”
Safier tell that he lived as his mother, a woman traumatized by what she suffered in the war, was willing to form a family with her father, who lived the Holocaust, if he gave up alcoholism, and they succeeded, he said.
The German writer blamed his interest in human coexistence as a literary subject in the history of his family: “I do not feel like writing consciously what I am going to tell but I realize that I am always telling the same story,” he said.
Y colorín colorado … Tú, edited by Seix Barral has as protagonists an irreverent heroine and a misplaced blue prince.
Nellie, comic book artist, suffers from love afflictions when, by chance, an old leather Tibetan notebook falls into his hands. On it, he draws his blue prince and, upon waking the next morning, he has left the sheet of paper and is, in flesh and bone, in front of it. With him, he will travel the streets of Berlin looking for answers to the mystery of the magical notebook, because everything in him is drawn comes alive.
What underlies the novel is the story of a person who comes from a different country, in particular from a fantasy country, but nevertheless learns to live with the rest of the characters, explained the author.
After Bad Karma (2009), which has more than 50 editions in Spanish, Safier wrote Jesus loves me (2010); Plötzlich Shakespeare (2011); Happy Family (2012), Muh!(2013) and Mieses Karma hoch 2 (2015), works of which, along with 28 Tage lang (2014), sold four million copies in Germany and are published in more than 30 countries.
