The Spanish tennis player Garbiñe Muguruza, 23, has raised the silver tray of the Wimbledon tournament on the Central Court of the All England Tennis Club on Saturday and has become the second Spaniard woman to win the title in the last 23 years, After Conchita Martínez.
Muguruza beat Venus Willians 7-5 6-0 in two hours and 17 minutes and with the victory he managed to win the thirty-third individual title of the Grand Slam for Spanish tennis.
“I grew up watching her play and has always been a source of inspiration,” said the champion over her opponent, champion for a five-time in grass tournament, to remember later that her sister Serena Williams told her that someday she would win the title and “here I am two years later”.
Muguruza acknowledged that it had been a “difficult” match and said it “incredible” to have won Venus Williams.
