THE WORLD DEMAND OF CRUDE OIL WILL EXCEED 100 MILLION BARRELS IN 2019, ACCORDING TO OPEP

Vienna/ World oil demand will exceed 100 million barriels per day next year, that is, it will increase 1.47% compared to 2018, as OPEC has announced, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.

In its monthly report, it has ensured that its fifteen member countries will be able to “guarantee enough supply to support market stability.”

According to the document, the group has increased its total production in 170,000 barrels per day in June to 32 million 300 thousand barrels per day.

On the other hand, the organization has warned of some circunstancies that could change the expected scenario. The “war of tariffs” is one of these factors, launched after the United States decided to apply high taxes to imports from China, Europe and other countries, can slow the growth of the global situation.

An even greater escalation in this conflict could harm “investment, capital flows and consumer spending with negative consequences” on energy demand; but for its current estimations, the OPEP assumes that the current disputes will be resolved soon, which makes it foresee a growth of the world economy of 3.8% in 2018 and 3.6% in 2019.

To respond to the demand of the increase in oil, the world will count, according to the organization, with more than 2 million additional daily barrels produced by non-OPEC countries such as the United States, Canda and Brazil. (July 12, 2018, EFE/PracticaEspañol)
