The Spanish publishing market has continued its recovery and has risen for the third consecutive year. It reached a 2,7% in 2016, almost 2.317,20 million of euros.
This growth is due to a “balanced increase in the selling of all types of books”.
“There is still a long road to walk if we want to achieve the numbers we had before the economic crisis – growing a 30,8% more in 2008. However, last year results were a sign of some recovery and consolidation for this market”, affirmed Daniel Fernández the director of the Spanish Editors Union and the Spanish Book Association.
According to the “Spanish publishing market research” – national and international business – 81,496 books were printed and each of them sold around 2,749 copies. Currently, the Spanish publishing catalogue is selling almost 620,316 books for the amount of €14,74.
Referring to that, Fernández explained that even though they have “more hope now”, they are still worried and will keep protesting because of the harm of piracy.
