Kensington Palace, couple’s official residence, has informed that full name of the third in line to the throne will be George Alexander Louis of Cambridge, although he will only be name by the first one.
George, England saint patron and bets’ favourite name, has been a common name to British kings and also the one that father of Queen Isabel II, George VI, chose to reign, despite his first name was Albert.
Newborn’s great-great-grandfather used his fourth name as a tribute to his father, George V, and to show the crown’s stability after the abdication of his brother Eduardo VII.
There were six kings named George in United Kingdom. The first one, German king George I, reigned in 1714 as the first king of the House of Hanover.
Alexander or Alexandra, if the baby would have been a girl, was one of the favourite names to Catherine, according to the British media. Louis might be a tribute to Lord Louis Mountbatten, Duke Felipe of Edinburgh’s uncle (husband of Queen Isabel II).
Lord Mountbatte was killed by Irish Republican Army (IRA) in 1979. He was the last viceroy of India, before its independency in 1947, and he was beloved by Prince Charles, William’s father and baby’s grandfather.
Name of third in line to throne – after Prince Charles and Prince William – was the only mystery left to clear after baby’ birth last Monday.
The news are that third in line to throne will only have tree names, instead of the fourth names of all British Royal Family’s members.
