Paris / “La casa de papel” was the most watched series on the payment platforms available in France in 2020, according to the audience measurement society Médiamétrie, which ranks Spanish production ahead of US Netflix productions and other great successes.
In addition, another Spanish series, “Las chicas del cable”, also broadcast by Netflix, occupied the seventh position in the national top, announced Médiamétrie in a conference broadcast on its networks.
The second and third place went to the American creations “Lucifer” and “For thirteen reasons”, followed in turn by “Vikings”, “The Crown” and “Murder”.
It is striking that all of them are broadcast exclusively on Netflix, with the exception of “Vikings”, also available on other private platforms such as Amazon Prime Video and My Canal, from Canal +.
Payment services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime or Disney + doubled their number of users, from 4.5 million in 2019 to 8.3 million in total in 2020, with an average daily use of three hours, compared to 2:51 hours of 2019.
Last year, 44.3 million French people watched television every day, for an average of almost four hours a day, 18 minutes more than in 2019.
The percentage of time spent in front of television rose in particular in the segment of viewers between 15 and 34 years old, fourteen more minutes to reach almost two hours a day. (January 30, 2021, EFE / PracticaEspañol)
