Madrid / The Community of Madrid will be closed from this Wednesday, December 23 to January 6 to prevent the spread of the coronavirus during the Christmas holidays, so the entries and exits of the region will be prohibited in this period except for exceptions, such as visiting relatives or relatives.
The decision to close the perimeter on these dates was adopted by the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System except for adequately justified displacements that occur for any of the reasons provided in the decree of the state of alarm, as well as to go to the places of habitual residence of relatives or close friends.
Madrid maintains what was agreed in that meeting between the Government and the autonomous communities, although others have subsequently adopted stricter measures such as the Valencian one, which will only allow the entry of residents.
Some 7,000 National Police and Civil Guard agents will be deployed from this Wednesday in Madrid to monitor compliance with the perimeter closure of the region and avoid unjustified displacements at Christmas.
The Civil Guard will monitor the main road exits in the region, mainly the highways, while the National Police, together with the Municipal Police of Madrid, will control the roads of the capital.
There will also be a safety device on radial, secondary roads and the borders with Castilla y León and Castilla-La Mancha.
The agents in charge of this work will require citizens to justify their travels, for which the Community of Madrid has prepared a safe-conduct that can be downloaded from a link posted on their Twitter account.
It is a responsible declaration that citizens will be able to complete if they travel to territories that are the place of habitual residence of relatives or close friends.
In addition to the perimeter closure, in the Community of Madrid there will be other restrictions during the Christmas holidays that affect certain basic health areas, in which it is not allowed to enter or leave except for justified reasons, such as going to work.
Until January 4 there will be restrictions of this type in five basic areas of the region: Andrés Mellado (Chamberí) and Sanchinarro (Hortaleza) in Madrid capital, Felipe II and Mayor Bartolomé González in Móstoles and Getafe Norte in Getafe.
They join La Moraleja, in Alcobendas, which will continue with restrictions at least until December 28, so that in total during Christmas there will be six basic areas of the Community of Madrid with these measures.
However, the regional government will stop applying these restrictions in sanitary zones on December 24, 25 and 31 and January 1 and 6, so that on these dates the affected residents will be able to move freely through the region, although they will be affected by the the same as the rest of Madrid by the perimeter closure of the Community from December 23 to January 6 included.
In addition, the limitation of movement between 00:00 and 06:00 continues in force throughout the Community of Madrid, except for justified reasons.
Between December 24 and 25 and December 31 and January 1, on the occasion of Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, this nighttime curfew is reduced from 01:30 to 06:00.
Meetings are limited to six people throughout the Community of Madrid, also on December 24, 25, 31 and January 1 and 6, in which there may not be more than two groups of cohabitants. (December 23, 2020, EFE / PracticaEspañol)
