Los Angeles (USA) The American actor Mark Hamill, famous in the world for being Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, unveiled his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles.
The fever for “Star Wars” reigned in the famous Avenue Hollywood Boulevard of the Californian city, since numerous fans this the saga of science fiction congregated to see in person to Hamill as well as to the film-maker George Lucas and the actor Harrison Ford, who participated in the act as guest speakers.
In the act also appeared two Imperial soldiers from Star Wars, dressed in their characteristic uniforms and white helmets, as well as the popular robot R2-D2.
“This will be a brief intervention because there aren’t words to express how I feel,” said Hamill, who throughout the tribute did not stop to sweet-talk to his followers.
“It is difficult to express my gratitude, my joy, my euphoria for being recognized in this way.” I had not been speechless in this way since The force awakens, he said wryly in reference to the final scene of Star Wars : Episode VII – The force awakens (2015), his only appearance in that film and in which he does not say a word.
Hamill thanked George Lucas, creator of Star Wars, the opportunity he gave him in this saga.
“Let’s be honest: if it were not for the genius of George Lucas, I would not be here today,” he said.
Hamill also had warm words for Harrison Ford, for his family as his “first audience”, and for his followers to be in the good times and the bad.
“From the Jedi to the Joker (character from the Batman animation stories to which he lent his voice) and vice versa, it has been a fantastic journey, thank you very much to all and may the Force accompany you to each and every one of you,” Hamill concluded.
For his part, George Lucas said that Hamill is “a character that could not be written” in a script.
“He is extremely enthusiastic about everything he does, and that is exactly what I was looking for (to play) Luke Skywalker,” he said.
“Wow, there are a lot more people today than the one who came for my star,” joked Harrison Ford, who, in addition to praising Hamill, remembered Carrie Fisher.
“I’m very sorry that we do not have the other member of our trio here to celebrate with us, but I feel their presence,” he said.
The audience included director Rian Johnson and actress Kelly Marie Tran, from Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017); Billie Lourd, actress and daughter of Carrie Fisher; and Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm. (March 9, 2018, EFE/Practica Español)
