NEW FASHION DESIGNER OF CAROLINA HERRERA CAPTURES THE ATTENTION IN NEW YORK

New York / The firm Carolina Herrera attracted all the looks in the New York Fashion Week with the presentation of its first fashion show after its founder announced that she was retiring as creative director last February.

The event, held at the New York Historial Society, founded in 1804 as the first museum of the Big Apple, was the debut as the author of the proposal of the fashion house of the young fashion designer Wes Gordon, 31.

The collection of Gordon stood out for its colourful and floral character, which gave continuity to the sophistication and femininity of the firm, while representing a daring, intense, strong and independent woman.

For the season spring summer 2019, the fashion designer opted for floral prints, polka dots, ruffles and voluminous sleeves to decorate his clothes, which highlighted the use of yellow mustard, moss green, various shades of pink and, of course, white and the black.

The floral dresses were one of the main protagonists of the day, made with lightweight materials that contributed fluidity to the garment and designed with strips or patches of different prints in shades of sky blue, red and yellow.

The fashion house inserted retro touches with boots up to the knee, finished in tip and with a wide cane decorated with flowers, which combined long shirts or blazers over short skirts.

These, the skirts and short dresses, were one of the most novel elements on the catwalk by Carolina Herrera, who didn’t usually show too much leg.

For the summer, even Gordon dared with small sets of openwork knit in an orange tone, complemented by a small jacket, high boots and a long thin belt that hung by the leg.

There was also a certain folkloric influence with several layers of ruffles on the bottoms of polka-dot dresses in black and white tones, both short and long midi.

The voluminous sleeves played a key role in Gordon’s designs for formal and informal garments, night or day, which he used mostly in a series of white dresses with discrete transparencies in the upper section.

As usual, the gala dresses had special prominence on the catwalk, in which satin fabrics were used in large and voluminous designs that left only the shoulders of the woman with accented necklines visible.

In mustard-yellow, black, or colorful wide stripes blue sky, pink salmon, and green moss, the luxurious garments, with some floral embroidery, dragged bulging tails that gave a majestic brushstroke.
