The document, filtered today by the London newspaper “The Guardian” and the American TV network CNN, has been written by three internationals ex public prosecutors after the forensic analysis of 55.000 digital images.
The report has 31 pages, it documents abuses since the beginning of the conflict in Syria in 2011 until the last august, and it has been published on the eve of the beginning of the Geneva 2 peace conference, in Switzerland, to reach an agreement on the process of transition in the Arabic country.
According to “The Guardian”, the study’s authors conclude in that “there are clear evidence, which may be supported by a tribunal, of systematic murder and torture of arrested people by the agents of the Syrian government”.
That, according to those experts, “will support charges of crimes against the humanity and could support charges of war crimes against the actual Syrian regimen too”.
The signatories of the report, made from photos taken of Syria by a military photographer deserter of the regimen, are the British Desmond de Silva, ex public prosecutor of the special court for Sierra Leone, and Geoffrey Nice, public prosecutor in the case against the ex president of the ancient Yugoslavia Slobodan Milosevic; and the American lawyer David Crane, who was public prosecutor in the special court for Sierra Leone too, where he imputed to the president of Liberia Charles Taylor.
