Panama keeps a North Korean flag’s ship with war armament

Panamanian authorities kept in Colon, in the Caribbean coast, a North Korean flag’s ship with war armament camouflaged in a sugar load coming from Cuba. “The whole world must know that not declared war armament cannot be distributed through Panama Canal”, said President Ricardo Martinelli.

This ship has been identified as Chon Chong Wang and its crew, 35 men and the captain, is kept in custody by Panamanian authorities, despite they resisted with force and the ship’s captain attempted suicide after having feigned a heart attack.

The crew and ship’s captain were taken to American air-sea base of Sherman, currently lead by Panama Naval Service. Whereas, they are seeking advice from United Nation about which organism they should hand over detainees.

“The whole world must know that not declared war armament cannot be distributed through Panama Canal”, said to journalist President Ricardo Martinelli at Colon Habour of Manzanillo, where he went to know the situation.
“Panama is a country which claims peace, not war”, affirmed him.
