RAJOY STOPS PROVOCATION FROM PRESIDENT OF CATALONIA WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE SOCIALIST PARTY AND CIUDADANOS

Madrid / The Government of Mariano Rajoy has announced that he will continue to apply Article 155 of the Constitution in Catalonia will continue being applied, after closing cooperation with PSOE leaders, Pedro Sánchez, and Cs, Albert Rivera in response to the provocation of the new president of Catalonia, who wants to include in his regional government team, two former regional ministers in preventive detention and two person escaped from justice.

As a result, the Government of Mariano Rajoy has decided to block the publication of one of the first two decrees by the Catalan president Quim Torra, which makes official the appointment of his regional ministers.

The Executive has published another decree for the creation, denomination and determination of competences of the ministries of the new Catalan Executive in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat.

The undersecretary of the Ministry of the Presidency and for the Territorial Administrations, José María Jover, has sent a letter to the secretary of the Government, Víctor Cullell, in which he informs him he can not publish the decree of appointment of the proposed consellers, because he is studying his feasibility, and remember that, without your authorization, it has no validity and effect.

The socialist leader, Pedro Sanchez, in an interview in La Razón, has ensured in this regard that he will support the Government rejecting the appointment as consellers of people in prison or escapes and, consequently, maintain the application of the 155.

In a multitudinous act to present the platform España Ciudadana, Albert Rivera said that, by the hand of Ciudadanos, no Spanish will have to return to ask for “forgiveness” for using the country’s flag or speak Spanish, warning that in the century XXI the adversaries are those who want to “divide” the country.

But president Torra has defended in an interview with El Punt-Avui that the “restitution” of the exconsellers is “essential” and has assured that he sees “unimaginable” that the State does not lift the 155, since not doing so “will violate the approved decree “and will cause an” institutional crisis of considerable dimensions”.
