Madrid / The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has invited hospitality professionals to prepare now to resume their activity and host national tourism, and has announced that from July the borders will be opened to foreign tourism safely.
In a statement from Moncloa, Sánchez has defended his intention to return the pulse to the tourism sector, which plays a “fundamental role” in the economy and job creation in Spain.
“There will be a tourist season this summer,” said the president, who has opted to revive national tourism, so he has invited bars, restaurants and beach and inland establishments to “prepare to resume their activity in a few days” .
And it has encouraged Spaniards to plan their vacations and “take advantage of the wonders of the national offer”, because “many will be able to do it from practically now, at the end of June and onwards”.
Regarding foreign tourism, confirmed the announcement of the Minister Teresa Ribera to EFE that from July it will resume, and will be done “in safety”, which is why it has stated that foreign tourists “can already plan their holidays in Spain ”.
“Spain needs tourism and tourism needs security at origin and security at destination, so we will guarantee that tourists will not run any risk or bring risks to our country,” he said.
For Sánchez, “there is no opposition between health and business; without health there is no business, and for this reason this Government will combine firm economic support for the sector with full sanitary guarantees. ”
In this sense, he has conveyed a message to foreign tourists: “Spain has been waiting for you since July and whoever steps on Spain, can count on stepping on a floor with sanitary guarantees and committed to the sustainability of our planet.” (May 25, 2020, EFE / PracticaEspañol)
