Madrid / Macho violence has taken the lives of 917 women in the past fourteen years, the last one was this morning in Vinaroz (Castellón), which rises to 45 the number of deaths this year, a year that also gives the most chilling figure of minors killed: 8, being already 23.

With the latest macho crime, that of a 35-year-old German woman shot by her ex-couple and perpetrated on the eve of the celebration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the number of women killed exceeds that of all last year, when 44 were counted.

However, the figure could increase, since three other cases are still under investigation; the first of them, the one of the woman who died in the explosion and subsequent fire in a house in Redondela (Pontevedra), in which the man who was his couple died, with whom he had a son in common.

The others are that of a couple who was burned in a car in La Llagosta (Barcelona) in May, and according to the Mossos the fire was caused by the man, and another British woman killed in the municipality of Mogán (Gran Canaria) in July, according to statistics from the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality.

Thus, and pending the end, 2017 would not be the deadliest year for women since the official statistics started in 2003: 76 women were killed in 2008, three more than in 2010 and four more than in 2004.

But it is for children murdered by their parents or the partners or ex-couples of their mothers: this year leaves the terrible figure of 8, when last year there was one, four in 2015, as many in 2014 and six in 2013, which it is when the underage victims began to register.

Since then, orphans of gender violence are 185, 23 of whom have lost their mother this year, three fewer than in 2016 and less than half of 2015, when the statistics were broken with 51.

Extrapolating this data, collectives such as Fundación Mujeres have calculated that since 2004, these children have exceeded half a thousand.

Last year closed with a 10.6% increase in complaints of gender-based violence, 3.6% of convictions to aggressors and more than 22% of protective measures and restraining orders, but also increased victims 8.7% to be located in 134,462 battered women, according to the balance of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ).

A trend that seems to be confirmed this year, since the latest figures of the CGPJ reveal an increase of 18% in the number of complaints in the second quarter, of 4% in the concessions of restraining orders and of 3% in the number of complaints. convictions of the abusers with respect to the same period of 2016.

The Telephone Service of Care and Protection for Victims of Gender Violence (Atenpro), which consists of the delivery of a mobile device that allows those affected to contact at any time with a center staffed by specialized personnel, until September 30 12,360 users, 10% more than last year.

On the contrary, the number of calls to 016, the telephone service for victims of mistreatment has dropped: in the first nine months of the year it has received 60,531, compared to 65,787 in the first nine months of last year.

And more figures: as on October 31, the VioGén program, the comprehensive monitoring system for cases of gender-based violence that has reached ten years, includes 478,671 cases, 55,319 of them active, of which 10 are of maximum risk , 175 medium, and 4.566, low.

One last: the 213 measures of the State pact, the first of the legislature, whose bases were approved in Congress and the Senate last September and which, according to the President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy, will be definitively sealed before end of the year.
