THE HALF OF THE WORLD’S POPULATION DON’T HAVE ACCESS TO BASIC HEALTH SERVICES

Geneva / A report published by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Bank (WB) concluded that more than half of the world’s population does not have access to basic health services and that some one hundred million people fell into extreme poverty for paying for medical treatment.

For this reason, there are 1 billion people with untreated hypertension, more than 200 million women without access to family planning and about 20 million children who do not receive all the necessary vaccines.

According to the report, health coverage services vary not only between countries, but also within nations.

It is estimated that more than 800 million people in the world (12% of the world population) spend at least 10% of their budget on health, which implies many cases of cuts in other needs such as food or school fees.

In addition, the study reveals that another 180 million people spend a quarter of their family budget on health.
