THE LEGENDAY GRAND PIANO OF ELVIS PRESLEY, FOR SALE ON EBAY

Madrid / On August 16, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death, eBay will sell the legendary piano of the King of Rock and Roll, a white grand piano by the Knabe brand that experts value between 2.5 and 5 million dollars, according to the auction website in a note.

The platform hopes to be a “historic” auction that will last until the 20th, given the value of this instrument that between 1930 and 1950 was used in the Ellis Auditorium in Memphis, Tennessee, by legends such as W.C. Handy, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Cab Calloway, and which Elvis (1935-1977) acquired in 1937.

Since then, the King of rock and roll practiced, made presentations and improvisation sessions with this instrument, until his wife, Priscilla, gave him a piano with gold leaf in 1969 and the white Knabe was stored.

In 1971, Vernon Presley, the artist’s father, sold the piano to Sturges recording studio, where it was used for recordings of more than 50 albums, and in 1981 the instrument was handed to Jimmy Velvet, who exhibited it in his museum. The piano has been privately owned since 1990 until now.

A portion of the proceeds from this auction, according to eBay, will be donated to the Starkey Audit Foundation, “to help provide hearing aids to children and people around the world.” (August 14, 2017, EFE/Practica Español)
