The expression “ya que” it is formed by the adverb of time “ya” and the conjuction “que”.
The Spanish used the same way that pues” “porque”, “puesto que”
With “ya que” we introduce the cause, explanation, and also the condition of something
“Estaba despierto, ya que no era de noche” (I was awake, as it was not at night”)
“Conducía con cuidado, ya que llovía” (I was driving with carefully, as it was raining.”
“Ya que no estudias, debes trabajar”. (“As you do not study, you must work”.)
“Ya que es tu santo, vamos a celebrarlo”.(As it is your holy, let’s celebrate.)
As you see, the meaning of these sentences does not change if instead of “ya que” use “pues” or “puesto que” or “porque”.
Estaba despierto, porque no era de noche. (I was awake, because it was not at night)
“Conducía con cuidado, ya que llovía” (I was driving with carefully, because it was raining.”
Puesto que no quieres estudiar, debes trabajar. (Since you do want not study, you must work”.)
Puesto que es tu santo, vamos a celebrarlo. (Since (because) it is your holy, let’s celebrate it.)
