TIME CHOOSE WOMEN WHO RAISED THEIR VOICES AGAINST SEXUAL HARRASSMENT PERSON OF THE YEAR

New York / The women who raised their voices against sexual harassment were chosen Person of the Year by Time magazine. The members of the #MeToo movement have broken the silence about abuses in the world of cinema, politics or journalism.

On the cover of the magazine, there are stars such as actress Ashley Judd or singer Taylor Swift, also appear anonymous women like Isabel Pascual, who earns a living harvesting strawberries in the field.

Judd was one of the actresses who denounced to the producer of Hollywood Harvey Weinstein, the scandal caused a wave of denunciations that have sprinkled to actors, presenters of television or politicians in October.

#MeToo movement was born in 2006. It was created by a black activist, Tarana Burke, but it did not was viral until the actress Alyssa Milano recovered it a few months ago.

One night before going to bed, Milano tweeted: “If you have ever been sexually harassed, write ‘me too’ in response to this tweet,” and upon awakening she found more than 30,000 responses.

For its next issue, Time magazine interviewed dozens of women who have suffered sexual harassment at work, including movie stars, hotel cleaners, shop assistants, Silicon Valley programmers, or farm-workers.

All of them are for Time the spark that drove the “revolution” and that now must give way to a much deeper “social change”.
