U.S. forbids considering the religion and the gender of the suspects in the judicial inquiry

The U.S. Department of Justice forbids federal agents in their inquiries to consider the religion, the natural origin, the gender and the sexual orientation of the suspects, elements that are added to the already illegal racial profiling, says The New York Times

This move comes after decades of criticism from advocacy groups for Human Rights, who have reported on numerous occasions that U.S. federal agents particularly point out to Muslim citizens in investigations related to terrorism and Latinos in their inquiries on immigration.

The administration of George W. Bush prohibited racial profiling, that is, discrimination based on race, in 2003, but stipulated one exception: cases involving national security.

According to reports The New York Times, citing official sources, it is unclear whether the same exception also applies to the prohibition considered in investigations of suspicious personal data such as religion, gender, sexual orientation and country of origin.
