VENEZUELA IS PREPARED FOR MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS WITH AN EYE ON DIALOGUE ON DECEMBER 15

Caracas / Venezuela lives its last days of campaign for the municipal elections of this Sunday with an eye on the negotiations between Government and opposition, and especially by the anti-Chavez request to open a “humanitarian channel”, which was described as “naked intervention” by the Executive.

On the eve of the close of the election campaign, the Government deployed on Wednesday to more than 250,000 troops who will ensure that the elections are held normally on Sunday, when Venezuelans will choose 335 mayors and the governor of Zulia state, in the west of the country.

Once again, the deceased President Hugo Chávez appeared from ruling party. He is present in all the speeches by the candidates from the ruling United Socialist Party (PSUV).

“Whoever has doubts think of Hugo Chávez, who has some fear think of Hugo Chávez,” harangued the president of this party Diosdado Cabello during a campaign event.

All this in a few days in which any point of the Venezuelan political agenda is splashed by the negotiations between the government and opposition to bring positions closer to a new meeting in the Dominican Republic on December 15.

In the search of an exit to the ramified crisis that lives the country the opposition has marked like one of its red lines the creation of a “humanitarian channel” by which they can arrive at the country foods and medicines, extreme discarded by the Government like Minister of Defense Vladimir Padrino recalled on Wednesday.

“We see with great concern – he said – the request for a humanitarian channel open to Venezuela on the assumption of a humanitarian crisis and we all know (…) what it means and what is behind a humanitarian intervention: it is the intervention Naked “, said Padrino during the event of activation of the security plan for the municipal.

However, the Defense Minister celebrated that both Chavistas and opponents have sat down to dialogue to find a way out of the problems that hit Venezuela “as long as,” he said, “the interests placed on that table are those of the country.”
