What you should know about traffic for the almost 5 million trips that Spaniards make the first three days of November

Madrid / The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) deploys a special operation in Spain from three o’clock in the afternoon on October 31 to the 4,800,000 trips estimated by the Spaniard in the first three days of this month of November.

Spain celebrates the feast of All Saints’ Day and the Dead Faithful and there are many Spaniards who at this time travel to visit the cemeteries where their loved ones are buried or, also, to enjoy a few days of rest and leisure.

DGT estimates that by visiting the cemeteries, road trips in Spain will increase in both short and long routes.

Remember also that the main traffic problems are going to occur at the exits of the big cities and also in the main communication routes to the most tourist areas or second residence.

Traffic believes that the exit to the road from the large urban centers will occur from the early hours of the afternoon of October 31, Thursday, and November 1, Friday, in the morning.

DGT recalled that on Friday, November 1, the feast of All Saints, the access roads to the cemeteries in the different Spanish towns will be difficult.

In addition, from the early hours of Sunday afternoon the intensity of road vehicles will gradually increase due to the return of the Spaniards to their places of origin.

The deployment of the DGT

DGT notes that it will deploy all human and material resources at its disposal to monitor the correct behavior of drivers and try to avoid accidents.

In addition, it will use the cameras on the road to monitor the use of the belt and the mobile behind the wheel, which will also control the Civil Guard from camouflaged vehicles.

Traffic has announced that it will monitor compliance with speed limits, whose control will be carried out through fixed and mobile radars that have vehicles from the Civil Guard Traffic Group.

It will also monitor drivers from the air with the helicopters and drones available to the DGT, which will also intensify the preventive controls of alcohol and drugs at any time of the day and on any road. (October 31, 2019, EFE/Practica Español)
