The voice in Spanish of Yao Fei, responsible for business of the Chinese embassy in Spain, when appearing before the media on the occasion of the epidemic that caused the death of 490 people and stressed that “the coronavirus has no passport” and the “common enemy” is the virus, “not the Chinese.”
During his speech at the headquarters of the Chinese embassy in Madrid, Yao Fei insisted that the only way to overcome this outbreak that has its epicenter in the Chinese city of Wuhan is that all countries collaborate together in solidarity and thanked the performance of the Spanish Government “which means a huge and valuable support to China that we value very pleasantly and deeply appreciate.”
On the other hand, he lamented the attitude of nations like the USA. that, ignoring the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO), has been one of the first countries to raise the alert to the highest level and has prohibited the travel of its nationals to China and banned the entry of any foreigner who has been in this country during the last two weeks.
Fei also noted that in recent days they have received complaints of “isolated cases” of Chinese compatriots who have received insults or discrimination based on their nationality, also in Spain.
However, he said that it is not a “general phenomenon” and that they have also received messages from many anonymous Spanish citizens who have transferred their solidarity and trust to China.
